The Gratitude Campaign
How do you say thanks to a soldier?
That was the subject line to an email I received yesterday from a friend. I thought it might be a cute joke actually. As I clicked through the link provided and watched the video I found out it was most definitely not a joke, and it really hit home for me. With Andrew’s deployment looming in the near future and thinking of having to say good-bye to him for a year or more again…it makes me cry just thinking about it. (remember yesterday’s post though!) And even though when I think about it I’m busy feeling sorry for myself, I also think about how I am just one of many that will be horribly missing a husband, a lover, a father, a friend, a son, a brother…or a wife, mother, sister…etc….and of course that doesn’t really help improve my mood either.
This campaign is really cool though, because it can be awkward for soldiers when strangers profusely thank them, to most of them, they are just doing their job and they don’t really think any thanks is needed…Andrew included. But I say it never hurts to acknowledge the sacrifice, and even though he may play it off, I’m sure he appreciates it.
So if you want, check out the video, or go to the website and see and read about it there.

Violet Hill
I haven’t had the time or will to put much content in here this week. Sorry about that. Fucking hormones. Either I hate the world and everyone in it, am crying for absolutely no reason, or totally spacing out. You pick. So yeah, fuck hormones! Ok..that feels a little better.
Anyway. I just listened to Coldplay’s new release “Violet Hill” and loved it (meaning I played it 15+ times straight). I wasn’t so impressed with their last album, with the exception of a few tracks. Hopefully this album is a little better. If this first release is any indication, I see good things ahead! Take a whiff. Seriously some good poo…
**Sorry, had to take the video down – copy write thing**
Tomorrow? We should delve into the interpretation of this song! I have a few theories! Sound like fun?

Mario Kart
We bought Mario Kart for the Wii this weekend + an extra steering wheel….it was too much fun. Even Audrey likes to play
That’s what I like so much about the Wii, it really can be fun for the whole family. (sorry if I sound like a commercial, it’s true!)
Not much else to say at the moment, so I’ll spare you!

“Shake Ur Ass” Friday
Really though. If this song doesn’t make you want to get up and shake it..umm…tell me what does? I love this song, I can’t even sit still while listening to it. And yeah…these hips can move!
I tried to get the actual video for the song, but Youtube isn’t letting me. So for now, just the song.
Now shake ur ass…you know you want to.

And I don’t even like Tequila…
Golly Golly…what a week. It has flown by so fast! I guess that could be considered a good thing, yeah? It’s hard to believe it’s May already…I think every year you get older the time just seems to pass faster than the year before. What a crock of shit.
Anyway, once I get through this morning I’ll be free for the weekend. Hell yeah..I can’t wait. Hopefully the morning goes by smoothly, it can’t possibly get any worse than last week. Ok, maybe it can. But it won’t. I’m thinking positive!
Later tonight Andrew and I are going out with some people I work with to have a few drinks in honor of a few birthdays past & present. I can’t wait, it should be a good time. Plus I’m having at least one shot of tequila in honor of those bloggers who will be in Philadelphia starting Tequilacon 08′ off right! I’m totally jealous. I guess I could have gone though, Philadelphia isn’t too far from me. It would have been awkard though. No one knows me. See? That’s what you get for being nothing but a lurker! Even so, I will join in on the fun in my own special way and buy a round of shots for those I’m with tonight. I doubt if I’ll say why. If you start talking blogging stuff around people who don’t even know what they are…you start to seem a little crazy and weird to them, lol. Their loss.
Anyway, here’s to all those going…I hope you have a great time! Take pictures!!

Happy Birthday!
Like he’ll even read this…but anyways..just in case he does!
Happy Birthday Baby!
It’s Andrews birthday today and he will join me in becoming 31, whoo hoo! About damn time. Of course he already acts like he’s 90. He’s a grumpy mofo most of the time. Gotta love him though. May 18th we will have been married 13 years which is just insane..and makes me feel old. Old but lucky. Lucky to be married to my best friend, the one person who I feel truly “gets me” and who knows my quirks and all my imperfections and still stands strong by my side. A girl really can’t ask for more.
We have come so far.
Also, here’s a song dedicated to my one and only. Before, when we’ve had our ups and downs, like all couples do, he’s referred to this song, and like me, believes that no matter the hardship or the problem we may be facing at that exact moment in time, there’s always a way to work past it & a solution we can come to – because not being a part of each other’s life just isn’t an option. There would be no color to life and it would quickly become meaningless if one of us was out of the picture.
I’d Die Without You – By P.M. Dawn
Here’s to you baby…
XOXO

Mondays Soapbox
It was a highly unproductive weekend. I worked Saturday night till Sunday morning so most of the weekend was either spent resting up for work, or recovering from work. Friday night I chilled and had some wine…well deserved I think!
I walk through my house and all I can think about is wishing I didn’t have to work..how pitiful is that?!?! When I was home all the time, there was more time to decorate, clean, organize..you name it. Not to mention having time for hobbies…I miss that more than anything. I just don’t have as much energy or motivation as I did a few years ago. I think I need to drink more coffee? Seriously. Or find some speed.
I’m kidding..
Hmmm. So that’s that. I can’t think of anything even semi-interesting to talk about at the moment. Maybe it has something to do with being almost 2am and wishing I was in bed right about now?
Oh. I do have to say I’m a little bummed. Dave over @ Blogography held his 5th “Blogiversary” last week, and every day he had a contest to enter for really cool stuff from his Artificial Duck Co. online store. I didn’t win squat, and I was really hoping to. I swear I have no luck whatsoever. There are some people who win shit all the time, they were born lucky or something. Alas, I am not one of those people. I don’t really have bad luck either, so I guess I can be thankful for that! Anyway, I’m a huge fan of Dave’s….as are a lot of people. He is just brilliant and I love his cartoon character’s “lil dave & Bad Monkey”. So even though I didn’t “win” anything, as soon as I get paid and he opens his store back up, I’ll be putting in a big order. And pretending I won all the stuff that gets delivered. hehe.
You think I’m kidding.

Who Knew?
That how one likes a peanut butter & jelly sandwich could say so much about them! Most of them are dead on.

What Your Peanut Butter And Jelly Sandwich Means |
![]() Your eating style is reserved. You are a bit of a fussy eater, and you have very specific ways you like your food prepared. You have an average sweet tooth. While you enjoy desserts, they aren’t exactly your downfall. Your taste in food tends to be pretty flexible. You may crave sushi one night, and your favorite childhood recipe the next. Admit it, you’re a little trashy and low class at times. You’re definitely more comfortable at a tattoo parlor than the theater. You are a tough person who isn’t afraid to live life fully. There isn’t a lot that scares you. Precise and controlled, you can be a bit anal retentive when it comes to how you like things. You’re definitely a perfectionist. |

They Say There’s A First Time For Everything
I was really hoping to be pleasantly suprised and have an easy morning….
Instead a resident spit in my face…right in my fucking eye. I’ve never been spit on before. And I sure in the hell wasn’t looking to break my track record. I was LIVID. You have NO idea! I seriously had to think about my job and not wanting to lose it. Yuck. Talk about disgusting. I was so mad my hands were shaking and I couldn’t help but to slam every door and drawer I opened and closed.
Best of all? Nothing will happen to this kid. Just a report that doesn’t mean a damn thing to him.
Let’s see, what else? I got kicked in the leg over and over and pushed as I was trying to keep 2 boys from throwing punches at each other.
It was such a fun morning.
I had to write over 20 different reports for various offenses committed..I hate writing reports at the end of my shift, I’m tired and I always take forever because my mind isn’t on track.
Anyway. Off to shower. And scrub. HARD. Then sleep. Then drink. Cause I’m cool like that.
UPDATE – This video cheered me up. It’s Hanson. Shhhh, they’ve come a long way since “MmmBop”. Give it a chance. Besides..I have a little crushy crush on Taylor (the lead singer) …what can I say? I have their latest album “The Walk” on heavy rotation, and I’m not embarrassed to say it no matter how much shit I get!
Push play. I dare ya! Let me know what you think.
“Been There Before”
